NOW HIRING: GEEKCORPS MALI, PROGRAM MANAGER

We are currently seeking= a passionate, experienced, and motivated technology expert and advocate to= manage Geekcorps Mali projects and volunteers, and assist in developing ne= w projects and expanding Geekcorps into new technologies and countries.

Geekcorps Mali’s main goal is to bring technology solutions to = community radio stations in Mali, to increase the quality of information th= ey have at their disposal, and to encourage sharing of information and prog= rams between the radio stations.

 

The Geekcorps Mali Program Manager is a fulltime position, based in= Bamako, Mali, that provides technology leadership, project management, and= program development skills to the Geekcorps Mali program as well as IESC G= eekcorps as a whole.

At a minimum, applicants require 5+ years experience with radio, el= ectrical, and/or computer technology, advanced French verbal and written la= nguage skills, and the ability to live and work in Mali, West Africa.

In celebration of the 78th Annive= rsary of World Amateur Radio Day, April 18th, we’d like to remind radio tec= hnology geeks everywhere of a great way to get involved in the world around= us: Register with Geekcorps!

Geekcorps has an innovative community radio project in Mali where v= olunteers are developing sustainable telecommunication-based business model= s for the "last mile"=97people in rural Mali without access to ba= sic information or communication services. You too can participate in this = program!

Geekcorps needs radio technicians and radio content experts for sum= mer and fall 2007 assignments focusing on community radio. Volunteers will = spend a substantial portion of their time in rural areas of developing coun= tries, introducing, installing, and training on old-school radio technologi= es that afford greater access to cutting edge information and communication= technologies.
